Beware of Phishing Attempts

What is Phishing?

Phishing is when bad guys try to trick you into giving them your crypto info. They do this with fake emails, fake websites, or even fake social media messages.

How Phishing Works?

  • They Pretend to Be Someone You Trust: They might pretend to be your crypto exchange, your wallet company, or even tech support.
  • They Try to Scare You: They might say your account has been hacked, or that you’ll lose your crypto if you don’t act fast.
  • They Want You to Click: They want you to click a link that goes to a fake website or download a file that has a virus.

How to Protect Yourself?

  1. Slow Down: If an email or message seems weird or urgent, take a deep breath before doing anything!
  2. Check the Website Address (URL): Make sure it’s spelled correctly. Scammers often use addresses that are close to the real one, but with one letter changed.
  3. Never Give Out Your Password or Private Key: No legitimate company will ever ask you for this.
  4. Look Out for Bad Spelling/Grammar: A lot of phishing emails have mistakes.
  5. If in Doubt, Don’t Click: Go directly to the company’s website by typing in the address yourself, or by calling their official customer support number.

The Big Idea: Think before you click! If something seems off, it probably is. It’s better to be safe than to lose your crypto to scammers.
